Tuane asked me which kind of amazing experiences I had in London
And it was hard to answer.
Right now so many things going on
It's even hard to write about them,
Too many, I don't know where to start.
So is my life in London.
How can I say quickly
that in London I lost my fear of words
I became older, as old as I wanted.
I became younger, as young as I'll remain forever.
It might be a cliche to say
I became stronger
But truth is
Turbulent times make your skin thicker
And turbulence hasn't stopped since I got on the plane almost two years ago.
I cried looking out the window.
I knew something was going to change.
I knew my world would turn.
And it did.
It was no winter any more
It was summer
How can my body understand it was summer now?
I'm missing the jukeboxes and the curries and the mattresses on the street
You'll never know how beautiful those red bricks are
Until they rip your heart out with coldness on those grey landscapes
And the smell of beer coming from the wooden floor.
And the early suppers.
And the lonely nights.
I can only thank my life full of strangers in London.
Strangers with stones from the shores of far away dreams
Strangers with accents, with lovely mums, with beetroot salads.
Strangers with addictions to Latin american soap operas.
Strangers with strong nightmares and a tendency to sleepwalk.
Strangers who drink beer in the Casino until the early morning.
Strangers who know all the lyrics and will always sing in basements.
Strangers with dark pasts.
Strangers with stories that will make me create.
Strangers with useless talents.
Strangers with unclassifiable fears.
Oh beautiful London
I wish I could say it loud and clear
So that everyone would understand
But it's hard to explain
How loneliness can be so pretty
Inspiring
Fulfilling
And I say "loneliness" just for the beauty of the word.
For the toughest lesson I had to learn.
For those times I spent writing on my notebook.
Lonely London
I would never trade the chance I have
To choose
And to change
And to go
And to come back.
I will bring my hands
And all the love that filled me in these lands.
I will bring you my summer.
